Butterfly Folding

Start with the Napkin folded in half. Fold one corner down, then the other, and turn the napkin over. Fold one edge in to the center and then the other. Turn the napkin over and spread out the top layer one side and then the other. Tuck the top corner in under the central flap. Pinch the center to form the butterfly body.

How to fold the Butterfly

Ease of Folding: The Butterfly is a little confusing to fold because the napkin has to be turned over twice.

Fabric: Any fabric can be used but very soft fabrics are harder to use because of the need to turn the napkin over.

Precision: It is worth folding fairly accurately so that the wings are symmetrical

Notes: In some fabrics the body will not hold the final "pinch" unless the napkin rests on a tablecloth. On a polished surface the body may tend to spread apart.
